Since focus is incredibly rare, consume is actually an extremely powerful card. Its downside however is non-negligible, and you definitely need some sources are slot game in order to make consume worth it. You never need multiple copies of consume since it does not exhaust. Consume pairs best with inserter, as you can consume as many times as you like without ever having to worry about using up all of your orb slots.
