Fusion is an alright source of energy for the defect. I prefer to take it when I know that I have plenty of orb slots, since a typical defect deck will generate so many orbs that plasma is very quickly evoked and the sooner it is evoked the less value you get out of it. If I am lacking in energy relics, that is also another good reason to take it.
