When to pivot to 'Snecko Eye' archetype

When you get Snecko Eye from Neow.

Star items

The Defect has a few expensive cards, most notably Meteor Strike. The randomisation from Snecko Eye can only make cards cost 3 at most, making Meteor Strike fantastic. With enough card manipulation you can potentially play it multiple times, netting energy each time. Sunder is similar, though less impressive, sometimes gaining you extra energy. It still has good damage output and when discounted just becomes better value.

All For One lets you benefit from Snecko Eye in a completely different way - any cards in your discard pile that were randomised to cost 0 will be drawn, regardless of what the base cost of the card is. This can require a bit of luck, but can lead to very powerful turns when it does happen. Hologram is also powerful in this deck since it can be used to pull cards from the discard pile while maintaining their randomised cost, letting you benefit from fortunate discounts again. There is even the possibility of having an All For One cost 0, plus a Hologram that costs 0, then use them to draw each other infinitely.

Support items

Draw effects are useful for giving you more chances at getting good Snecko Eye rolls. Otherwise, just support your deck with some expensive cards and a mix of offense and defence. Reinforced Body and other X cost cards can help make turns more consistent since they are unaffected by Snecko Eye, but you should prefer to lean into the archetype with 2 and 3 costs.

'Snecko Eye' archetype weaknesses

The starter cards in the defect are cheap and low-value, and bad with Snecko Eye. Zap and Dualcast upgrades just make them cost 0, making that a pointless move. Getting started with this deck can be tricky, but once you have a few good drafts it gets strong.

Luck is always going to be a factor with this Snecko Eye. Sometimes you'll have terrible draws, such as a hand full of 3 cost Strikes. Try to remove your starter cards early and draft expensive cards as soon as you can to turn the odds in your favor.

Don't draft 0 cost cards in this deck. This is a substantial part of the Defect's card pool, so Question Card or Prayer Wheel can help provide better options.

Equilibrium seems good since it is high value, but holding onto a bunch of expensive unusable cards will clog your hand and block draws. Be careful when drafting it.
