Pressure Points

Archetype summary

Mark enemies with Pressure Points and watch them crumble.

When to pivot to 'Pressure Points' archetype

When you find an early Pressure Points, then a second one.

Star items

Pressure Points damage stacks up very quickly - upgraded, it deals 11, then 22, then 33 damage, meaning after just 3 applications it can do 66 damage. The single-target damage scales extremely well, decimating health pools after just a short amount of build up. Make sure to draft several copies to trigger it more often. 2 can work, 3 is good, more than 3 can be excessive unless your deck is particularly large. Keep your deck small and avoid drafting a lot of different attacks, as it will dilute your deck and your damage.

Remember to play your highest damage Pressure Points first if you have one upgraded and one unupgraded.

Support items

Wave of the Hand can be a great source of defence while stacking up your marks. It's especially helpful to burn through Artifact and allow your Pressure Points to start dealing damage.

Sanctity and Third Eye grant you draw and scry whilst giving block. Sanctity is especially strong due to the abundance of skills in this deck.

Signature Move gets a special mention since this deck has barely any attacks in it - it can help you finish off foes that are problematic for Pressure Points (due to Artifact, for example). Impatience benefits from the lack of attacks too.

Since Wrath grants no benefit to Pressure Points, Calm is usually used instead; it can grant energy when needed and has some great synergies with Like Water and Inner Peace. Meditate may be used to pull back your Pressure Points, letting you stack faster and getting you back into calm.

Since Wrath isn't that beneficial, exit cards, especially Empty Mind and Empty Body, can have a lot of utility and are easier to use than Wrath cards.

'Pressure Points' archetype weaknesses

Artifact blocks Pressure Points' damage, making Deca and Donu and the Sentries Elite tricky to finish off.

Fights with multiple enemies are very difficult to manage with Pressure Points; you must decide whether to focus down one foe or to spread the damage to get the maximum benefit from your marks. When in doubt, take down foes one at a time - just remember that you can sometimes finish off one foe by marking another once it has gotten low.
