What we think of Hyperbeam

Hyperbeam is a very powerful aoe attack with a serious downside. It can be used to tear through act one hallway fights very quickly, but as soon as you reach act 2 it becomes less consistent and the focus down begins to take its toll. I normally only consider taking this card if my deck does not rely on orbs at all, but almost every single defect deck does even to a small degree. The one that comes to mind is all for one. It can also be played with other focus down effects such as reprogram, since after losing a certain amount of focus anymore losses don't make any difference. Note that plasma is unaffected by focus.
