Transcendimp

What we think of Transcendimp

Although it might not look it at first glance, transcendimp is a very powerful card in the right situation. If you have a lot of imps already in your deck, or if you are playing the Shardtail Queen, I would definitely recommend picking up this card when you see it and potentially using it as a win condition. Transcendimp starts to become truly disgustingly powerful once you managed to find some way of playing it over Andover. This might be through a reform deck, particularly with Primitive Mold (making it a good match with Little Fade) and Molded. This can also be made possible by giving it the endless shop upgrade, or by using another unit’s Endless essence. Interestingly, this unit's essence is endless, meaning that if you combine it with itself it can create a very formidable unit. This is particularly convenient given the consistency and reliability of Hellvents, especially on the final ring.

The drawback of this strategy is actually needing the imp to die every turn. Due to the armour that can be gained from welder helper’s summon effect, putting the transcendimp at the front doesn't always result in its death. What's more, you likely would rather that armor go on a higher priority unit than your imp that you want to die, so putting the transcendimp further back is usually the best strategy. It is possible to use torch on your own units, and sometimes ensuring the death of your own transcendimp is the best use of this spell. If you are allied with the melting remnant clan, it is also possible to add one burnout to the transcendimp via shop upgrade. When this is combined with endless, it ensures the transcendimp will die immediately every turn, so long as it does not receive further applications of burnout. My final recommendation for killing your imp is giving holdover to Imp-portant Work (my favourite strategy) or Imp-pressive.

It is important to note that the transcendimp itself does not use the summon keyword, so any effects triggered by a transcendimp will not be triggered by future transcendimps. For example, if you play one Fledgling Imp, it will give 5 rage. Play a transcendimp, it will give 5 rage. Play another transcendimp, it will give 5 rage (not 10).

My favourite Imps to use with this unit are the impish scholar, the welder helper, and the fledgling imp. When used enough times, this can cause a floor to become incredibly tanky and incredibly hard-hitting. Although this unit very obviously synergises with other imps, it will copy summon effects from any unit. At present, this only applies to a few Awoken units that increase Max HP.

Be careful if you have infused the essence of Dante into another unit, as it will cause you to add a Blight to your hand on each summon.
