Demon Fiend

Demon Fiend is a solid unit, with the very obvious downside that it costs 4 Ember. This typically means that you should hesitate before picking it, especially if you don’t have any additional sources of ember yet, such as the major boss relic Fel’s Remorse. On occasions when I am performing particularly well and still want to draft the Demon Fiend, I will pick it before ring 3. If you are struggling at this stage, I would not recommend picking up this unit. Although there are other ways to generate Ember, such as the pyre chomper, it can be inconsistent to have to rely on drawing them on the same turn. This unit can perform quite well on the higher floors, cleaning up any units that break through (even high health ones) without requiring too much defensive support. For this reason, I'm a fan of putting quick on it and leaving it on a higher floor. Due to its high base damage, it's also a good idea to put multistrike on it.
